I attended a presentation for staff on BookLetters which PACL will roll out tomorrow. PACL will start offering this service to its customers in lieu of the individual blogs that librarians were maintaining up to today. It will make their ability to provide collection and programming information easier through easy-to-use web tools, access to Bookletters’ dynamic book database that they can use and remix, and push technology. What this means to customers is access to rich content like reviews, annotations, book jackets, author interviews; ability to customize the content delivered to them; and instant feed through email, web, or RSS subscription. BookLetters is another example of how Web 2.0 technologies are changing how libraries inform and enrich the lives of their customers.
