I was also nervous too about going through each step in the setup directions because I came across a few problems in which I thought I would ruin the blogs of everyone else. I liked you analogy about it being like diffusing a bomb. When going through the steps you felt like you could do no wrong with it because it was detailed. It was not something you could do without reading over first because there were side notes to consider.

I had the same problem with MYSQL config. It took me a while to realize that I could not use my mouse in order to get to the place that I wanted to type in. I wasted so much time on that it was maddening. I'm sorry that it took so much time for you to uninstall the Wordpress program. It's strange that you had to do it file by file. While trying to figure out themes I would install them and uninstall the folders with the files in them no problem. Maybe it has something to do with being a whole program. I envy the fact that you were able to change your banner. The first time that I saw your site I was curious as to how you did it and glad you described it in your post. This was actually the theme that I wanted but I really didn't like the banner and I don't have Photoshop anymore. Oh how I miss having Photoshop. Thanks for the advise on the plugin key.
My plugin didn't require it, but I may have to look for it in the future.

Great work on your blog.
