The topic of my LIBR 2249 class for the first week of the Fall semester was the future of cataloging. We had an Elluminate session wherein the class learned about future trends in cataloging like RDA and FRBR. RDA stands for Resource Description and Access, while FRBR (pronounced ferber) stands for Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records. These new codes and standards are suppose to replace the “outdated” ACCR2r and make things easier for the user. Time will tell if and when they get implemented. Meanwhile. the class had to submit individually a PPT presentation explaining FRBR Group entities using one example. I choose Bram Stoker’s Dracula for my example. I kind of liked my finished product and decided to make a video out of the PPT. I added a couple of slides, added a soundtrack, and change the background a bit.
Here it is.
