I created an enthusiast site for Android phones for my final project for LIBR 240. I actually build on the assignment I submitted for week 8, the Android Unleashed site that demonstrates a clean and cohesive design. While looking for content and ideas around the web I encountered a lot of interesting tidbits about Android. One of them was this set of figurines created by illustrator and toy designer, Andrew Bell.
Andrew Bell teamed up with Dyzplastic to come up with a series of Android figurines. The figurines stands at 3 inches tall and is made of vinyl. The first batch of 12 unique design can be bought in individual boxes or in cases of 16.
The individual boxes are packaged blind, so you will not know the design of the figure you will be getting. The series came out in February and due to its popularity and highly collectible status have now been sold out. Folks at the online auction site, eBay, have been making a killing selling these cute little critters for 5 to 7 times their original price. Andrew Bell promised to come up with Series 2 in the near future. In the meantime for those of you who were not able to get a hold of these puppies, here’s a few pictures of some of Bell’s Android figurines.
