Macbook Air 13″ mid-2012
My new Macbook Air arrived Tuesday last week. I decided to go with the Macbook Air 13″ mid-2012. I considered the Macbook Air 11″ version, Macbook Pro 13″ version, and a couple of ultrabook models. The ultrabook models I looked at are the Samsung Series 9 13″ version, the 11″ Zenbook by Asus, and the Dell XPS 14.
I went with the MBA 13 based on features I considered to be important. It was really close as all the models I considered have features I desired, but in my mind the MBA 13 has the perfect balance of what are my needs and wants.
I got the entry-level MBA 13 with the Core i5 processor, 128 GB ssd drive, but upgraded to 8 GB of RAM. Upgrade through the Apple route is pricey, $100 for 8 gigs, but you really have no choice since the RAM is soldered to the motherboard. I decided it is worth it to upgrade as the extra RAM will in some way future proof my MBA. Also, I intend to run virtualization software on my MBA and the extra 4 gigs will come in handy.
I will be posting my unboxing and my review in the following days as I do a shakedown of the MBA. In the meantime, here’s a few photos I took using ny Galaxy Note.
